You Are Not Broken: Reframing the Inner Critic

We all have an inner voice. Sometimes, it uplifts and encourages us. Other times, it criticises and questions our worth. If you’ve ever felt like you’re not doing enough, not being enough, or constantly falling short—you’re not alone.

That voice is known as the inner critic. And while it can feel harsh and loud, it often comes from a place of protection, not punishment.

Where the Inner Critic Comes From

For many women, the inner critic is shaped early on—through experiences of comparison, rejection, emotional neglect, or pressure to perform. It becomes a way of staying safe: if I criticise myself first, maybe others won’t. If I hold myself to impossible standards, maybe I won’t disappoint anyone.

But over time, that voice becomes limiting. It makes us second-guess our choices. It holds us back from joy. It whispers that we have to work harder, be more, do better—always.

Where the Inner Critic Comes From
The way we speak to ourselves shapes the way we experience everything else.

What the Inner Critic Sounds Like

The inner critic is sneaky. It can sound like:

  • "You’re not ready yet."

  • "You always mess things up."

  • "You should be doing more."

  • "Why can’t you just get over it already?"

It thrives in silence and shame. The more we ignore it, the more power it seems to gain.

You Are Not Broken

Here’s what I want you to know: you are not broken. The fact that you’ve adapted, coped, and carried on means you are resilient.

In holistic coaching, we don’t try to eliminate the inner critic—we understand it. We explore where it came from, how it has tried to protect you, and what it needs now. With compassion, we begin to meet that voice with a new energy: kindness.

I work exclusively with women to create a safe, nurturing space for this work.

Through body-based awareness, emotional guidance, and intuitive reflection, we uncover what your inner critic has been trying to say—and how to stop letting it lead.

Reclaiming Your Voice

As we reframe the inner critic, we begin to replace it with something softer:

  • Self-trust

  • Inner peace

  • Emotional safety

  • Confidence in your truth

You don’t have to prove your worth. You don’t have to be perfect to be lovable. Your wholeness was never lost—it was simply hidden beneath layers of survival.

A New Inner Dialogue

What if your inner voice spoke to you like someone who truly cared? What if it said, “I’m proud of you,” or “It’s okay to rest,” or “You’re doing enough”?

You can begin building that voice. Slowly. Intentionally. One compassionate choice at a time.
